Final 3 Recruits

Final 3 Recruits

The Paladins are exited to add the final three members of this season’s recruiting class. Jarred Toole, Rhett Willcox and Dean Kiriacou are now soldiers of the Princess of Wales Own Regiment and three forwards who will add depth and offence to the Paladins this season.

Jarred comes to RMC after captaining the Woodstock Slammers, in the Maritime Junior A Hockey League last season. Jarred, known for his tireless work ethic and defensive play, had a breakout season, and led the Slammers in every offensive category, amassing 28 goals and 30 assists for 58 points in 49 games. “I have nothing but praise for Jarred Toole as a player and person,” noted Slammers Head Coach Fabian Joseph. “He played a defensive role the previous season on a veteran team doing a great job in defensive situations and on the penalty kill. This past year, he added an offensive role leading our team in every offensive category while maintaining his strong defensive attributes. Jarred was our team captain and led by example on and off the ice.”

“We are excited to add another team captain to our recruiting class,” remarked Paladins Head Coach Richard Lim. “Everyone we spoke with had nothing but praise for Jarred’s abilities and character.  His work ethic and team-first attitude will help our team immediately and we hope he continues to contribute offensively.”
Rhett Willcox will attend RMC after playing with a few different teams over the past two seasons. After starting his junior career under the tutelage of Paladins’ Alumnus Luke Pierce, Head Coach of the Merritt Centennials in the British Columbia Junior Hockey League (BCHL), Rhett concluded his junior career in Drayton Valley of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Rhett is known as a good teammate and character person. He had a great offensive season in Drayton last year after respectable seasons in the BCHL. In Drayton Valley, he led the team in points with 55 points (17 goals and 38 assists).

“I was excited when Luke called me about Rhett, and after following him this year, there is no doubt that he will fit into our team and help make us better,” said Coach Lim. “We will look for Rhett to contribute offensively but also be a consistent player that can play 200 feet night in and night out. Rhett played in two very good leagues in Western Canada, and we know that experience will help him make an easy transition to our program.”

Dean joins the Paladins after spending last season with the Timmins Rock of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League. Dean will add size and grit to the Paladins lineup.  Dean was a fan favorite in the Rock’s lineup and a great teammate, which should translate to a great fit with this year’s RMC team.

“Dean adds some size up front, and will be looked to use that size to create space for his line mates,” commented Coach Lim. “We expect him to make the most of his offensive opportunities. Dean is another good pick up for our recruiting class this year, he adds some much needed depth up front. He has great potential.”

The Paladins are very excited to add these three strong young men to the program and the Canadian Armed Forces.
